Class Description

In this intermediate-to-advanced course we will focus on three basic techniques of etching a copper plate: hard ground, soft ground and aquatint as well as how to print with consistency and controlled variation. We will look at artists such as Rembrandt and Goya for inspiration while mastering a vocabulary of techniques. There will be demonstrations in multi-plate printing, roll up viscosity, chine colle and color. The first copper plate will be provided as well as the basic shop tools.
