Learn about and take inspiration from Joseph Cornell's boxes and games made from found objects and collaged images. Cornell's boxes were narratives of magical worlds, others were games, and others still were simply assemblages of interesting objects, clippings, and art materials. In this camp, we would visit the Art Institute to see and study the art of Joseph Cornell, and then make our own Cornell boxes. The students would design a concept, find and make objects for inside of the box, decorate the outside of the box, and emerge with their own interpretations of Cornell's fun and interesting style. On Friday, we’ll spend that day at the Art Institute to look at the Cornell Boxes.
