1st Annual Lillstreet International

Lillstreet International is a juried exhibition that addresses contemporary issues in ceramic arts. The show is designed to challenge and showcase the ever changing scope of ceramic art. Lillstreet International is open to all artists working in clay. Each year the show will take on a different theme, this year the focus is functional porcelain.
PROSPECTUS INFORMATION:
Focus:
Lillstreet International has a rotating theme that will change annually. This year's theme is "Functional Porcelain," which means all submissions must be porcelain and address function.
Location:
Lillstreet Art Center, Chicago, Illinois.
Dates:
Application deadline: June 6, 2008 (postmark)
Notification begins : July 4, 2008
Accepted work due: Ship by August 15, 2008
Exhibition dates: September 1 - October 1, 2008
Eligibility:
Open to functional porcelain
Submitted work produced in the last two years.
Size may not exceed 35 inches in any dimension or 30 pounds in weight.
Rules:
Enter up to three functional porcelain pieces or sets.
All exhibited work MUST BE FOR SALE.
Work will be disqualified if, upon receipt, it is not the same piece presented in the accepted image.
Work must arrive in time for the opening. (ship by August 15, 2008).
If accepted work shows poor craftsmanship upon receipt, it will be disqualified.
Entry fee:
$30, non-refundable.
Make check or money order payable to ‘Lillstreet Art Center’.
Commission:
60% to artist, 40% to LSAC
Fright and Insurance
The artist pays shipping and insurance to and from Lillstreet.
Lillstreet Art Center is responsible for insurance during the exhibition.
Digital Image Requirements:
Submit one image per piece (one detailed images per piece is allowed).
Save file as a Jpeg at 300dpi.
Save each image with your name and entry letter (ex: Smith A, Smith B, Smith C)
Place (copy) all images onto a CD and label CD with your name.
CD will not be returned
Slides:
Slides will NOT be accepted.
Photography:
LSAC reserves the right to use selected work in future publications.

A stamped ($.64 in postage) self-addressed business envelope (no smaller than
4x 9) for notification and return of images.
Check or money order for $30, payable to ‘Lillstreet Art Center’.
Juror:

SAM CHUNG
Sam Chung was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota (1970) and received his MFA from Arizona State University (1997) and his B.A. degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota (1988). He taught at Northern Michigan University from 1998-2007 and is now teaching at Arizona State University in Tempe. Exhibitions: Cervini Haas, AKAR, Dubuque Museum of Fine Art, Sherry Leedy, Santa Fe Clay, Lacoste, Taipei County Yingge Museum and Incheon World Ceramic Center. Collections: Everson Museum of Art, Incheon World Ceramic Center (Korea), Guldagergaard (Denmark), Shepparton Art Gallery (Australia), University of Arkansas, and Arizona State University Ceramics Research Center. Residencies: Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Watershed, Guldagergaard (Denmark). Sam’s work has been included in the following Publications: Contemporary Ceramics (Susan Peterson), The Art of Contemporary American Pottery (Kevin Hluch), The Complete Guide to High Fire Glazes (John Britt), Works by Ceramic Artists From Around the World (Fu Ziying), and Masters of Porcelain (Lark). In addition, Sam has presented numerous lectures and workshops both nationally and internationally.
